This one's based on the Richard Yates story, "Doctor Jack-O'-Lantern". If you've never read Yates' work before I urge you to go do that now. For years his work was out of print and nearly impossible to find until 2001 when his collected short stories were brought together and published in a single volume. The 2008 film adaptation of his hallmark novel Revolutionary Road has also sparked a renewed interest in his writing. These days everything Yates published has been reissued by Vintage Books, so you've really no excuse. Go. Now. Read.

Small Monsters
I know there's been a lot of radio silence lately, but to be fair, I have been busy. I've been working on a poster for a fantastic short film (I'll be posting more on that in the near future) and I'm honored to be included in an upcoming group show called Small Monsters. The reception is on October 3rd, so if you happen to be in NYC next Thursday stop on by for some wine and good lookin' works.
I'm very excited to be a part of this show and hope to see you all there!
In the meantime here's a sneak peak at my contribution titled Griffin.

Selfie...
It had been a while since I'd just drawn to draw. Here's a graphite on paper self-portratit I was fiddling around with the other night.

When it rains...
At last! Between
putting it off a few times to work on other
projects and reworking the drawing this one has spent a lot of time on the to-do list. I'm very happy to
have finally polished it off. Here's the first post relating to this work.

Downy snow...
Here's the final piece inspired by the PKD story, Out in the Garden. You can see the final comp drawing here. I put this one aside for a few months, though I'm not really sure why. I was excited about the image when I first started working on it and always had finishing it up in the back of my mind.
Regardless, a bizarre story and a lot of fun to make an illustration out of. Enjoy!

The Scottish Play
This is a book cover idea that's been kicking around in my sketchbook and on my table in various forms for a couple of months now. Easily one of my favorite Shakespeare works.
